July 22 – August 21
Ruler: Sun Element: Fire Sign
Symbol: The Lion Spiritual Element: Purity
Physical Element: Hot/Move
Emotional Element: Optimism
The glory of Leo is that their colors shine from sunup to sundown, natural glowing rich orange-gold hues, which release positive vibes of well-being, warmth, and optimism. The orange tones work to heal conditions that are dormant, bringing them out into the open, into the light of day.
These same gold and rich oranges are the colors we should all surround ourselves with when undergoing massive emotional disruption, such as divorce, as these colors will help to stabilize emotions. The Leo colors also help to increase appetite and heal intestinal disorders, because of their stimulating quality. No wonder the lion proudly struts when entering the room!
Leo is representative of a fires glow; it is the second of the fire signs and is ruled by the sun. The Leo, when in positive form, radiates the same healing influences we are nurtured with by its ruler. It’s the golden glow of a fire or a happy, sun drenched, summer place. Warm, expressive, indulgent and grand; a strong yellow best represents this sign.
Leo’s are born loving the spotlight and continue this through adulthood, probably because the sun is at the center of the solar system with all the other planets revolving around it. It is just natural to this sign. Your Leo child simply instinctively knows this! As the Lion grows into the toddler years you will frequently find him sitting with playmates surrounding him in the same manner. In later years your home will become a hub of activity around the Leo child. It will become your norm. The magnetic personality of this sunny sign makes it easy to attract friends but the Lion grows restless and may become irritable with the fuss.
You may find your child a little judgmental and will need to teach him that others are talented in different ways when he grows intolerant of them. Teach your child the wonders of metaphysics, psychology and the spiritual and you will find your child will develop a healthy sense of balance between the material and the mystical.
Being the center of attention comes naturally to Leo; your challenge is not to allow him to believe that it is their right to be the center of all attention at all times. He is at his finest when directing the action which should inevitably revolve around them. If not tempered, this tendency often turns these children into little dictators and they tend to behave like the King of the Jungle whose zodiac sign they bear.
When their inherent bossy natures are not tempered with humility and understanding, Leo kids can grow up to be insufferable and arrogant adults. You can best help them in this regard by demonstrating care and humility in your own actions.
From newborn to seniors, the Leo personality is most comfortable in their natural habitat. They simply need to feel their healing colors around them and still be entertained with challenges. Leo’s love trinkets; even as children you will notice them gathering glitzy things to collect in their rooms so be prepared for managing a large collection of costume jeweler and the things the lion picks up as they stroll through their own personal jungle.
The Leo nursery that will impress the King of the Jungle features their warm golden tones on the walls, soft and comfortable chairs and rugs, well you get it now, something fit for the King!
Be prepared for the storage dilemma as your child grows and don’t forget to include seating for the followers that will inevitably come to visit and play. Something entertaining and reminiscent of the jungle works just perfectly for this little tyke.
If you’re thinking this child might tire of the jungle, forget about it! As they grow to their toddler and childhood years, plan a vibrant and palatial space to hear the loudest roar of pleasure. A safari car is actually the perfect bed for the Leo toddler!
You need to understand that at the very least, they need their colors and a few reminders of what they are made of! Another nice touch is a matching bulletin board to post their projects of which they are proud to display.

Space to roam and entertain
Activity tables with extra chairs
Wall hangings with texture to entertain their mind
The Leo Adult
The personality traits of the Lion are firmly in place by the age of 5 so when you meet an adult Leo, what you see is what you get. They require nurturing and pampering and sometimes make a bad judgment call in their haste. If you have a Leo partner you will be the first to learn that when they discover their mistake, guess who will become responsible? Yep, it’s the person they misjudged!
They are not great at making apologies or accepting responsibility for hurting your feelings but they make up for it in other ways. The faint of heart will not likely be attracted to this personality so you probably have tough skin!
Leo adults need a place to relax and comb their mighty mane. You can leave the jungle prints with ease and graduate to adult lairs! The same colors still need to be a major influence in this space. Add exciting accents with deep scintillating blues and vibrant reds to this room. Chairs and accessories that reflect some of the opulence of the jungle are a welcome addition.
Leo’s are happiest in spaces where they ‘feel’ like it is fit for a king but also nurtures and comforts them. It doesn’t have to cost a fortune; it simply needs to feel like it. For design style classic elegance with Leo’s vibrant colors will do nicely!
